DWA Amir (Monarch AH X DWA Sabanna by Sabson) with his owner, Alexis Chuck, had a nice ride on the beach
earlier in June in order to escape the California heat. Amir and Alexis had their first experience at an
endurance ride when they completed the introductory ride at the Cooley Ranch ride on June 26, 2021.
Both Amir and Alexis enjoyed the ride and had a lot of fun! There may be more rides in their future!
2014 gelding, DWA Einstein (Samsheik by Sambor X DWA Mellina by Sabson) and his owner, Carrie Johnson,
are having a good time developing the skills and conditioning Einstein will need for future endurance rides.
Many of the 2020 spring rides have been cancelled because of the Coronavirus, but that has not stopped Connie Holloway
and DWA Barack (Moment of Valor by Wiking X DWA French Kiss by Haffir el Rimal) from staying in shape.

(Photo on the left) DWA Nadra (Falina des Fabries X Royal Perrfection by Monarch AH and owner, Anne Aganon, placed 4th in the 2019 Tough Sucker 25 mile ride. After completing the 2019 Eagle Canyon 50 mile ride (in the top 10) DWA Nadra now has 1,035 endurance miles and 255 LD miles.

2013 bay gelding, DWA Superman (Monarch AH X DWA Croix Blanche by Ala Croixnoire) is in good hands with his new owner, horse trainer Robert Ribley, who is teaching him how to pony behind his endurance horse, Regret. Robert is an experienced endurance rider with more than 36,000 endurance miles who has completed more than 100 one hundred mile endurance rides, including 16 Tevis completions . Robert and his horse,
Tari (who completed over 8,000 endurance miles) were the 2009 recipients of the AERC Pard'ners Award. DWA Superman and Robert should
have lots of great years of endurance rides in the future!
2009 gelding, DWA Ziffdaka (Chndaka X DWA WH Zinfandel by Sabson) has a new owner, Lise Byrne,
who is looking forward to riding him in his first endurance rides in the near future.
2010 gelding, DWA Zifhasan (DWA Ziffalat X Royal Perrfection by Monarch AH) is getting ready to become an endurance horse.
His owner, Anne Aganon, (who also owns DWA Nadra, out of
Royal Perrfection), has been busy helping DWA Zifhasan learn
"the basics" before he starts his endurance career.
2009 mare, DWA Haffirs Tika (Haffir el Rimal X LZP Royal Tiki by Sam Tiki) has a new owner, Laurie Birch, who is looking forward to taking her to some endurance rides in the near future. Scudd Run (Laurie's present endurance horse) and Laurie have completed more than 10,000 total endurance miles together and have completed the Tevis Cup 100 mile ride three times. Scudd Run and Laurie received the 2012 and the 2016 AERC National Mileage Championship Senior Award.
DWA Haffirs Tika should be able to reach her full potential with Laurie as her owner! We wish them many successful years of riding together!
Congratulations to Steve Jasso, the new owner of 2014 gelding,
DWA Ottly (DWA Ziffdaka by Chndaka X Serenity Shaqlavia).
DWA Ottly was rejected by his mother when he was born and Steve helped with his care, hand feeding him for the first six weeks of his life. Because of this, DWA Ottly was named after Steve's nickname, which is Ottly. They were meant to be together and Steve will have fun teaching DWA Ottly lots of ground work for the next few years until he is old enough to ride!

At the 2013 Owyhee Tough Sucker 25 mile ride, DWA Lottos Spirit and Helen Bonner placed
first and DWA El Paso and Anne Aganon placed second and received the high vet score!
Congratulations to Dr. David Shefrin and DWA Sabku (Sabku Khan), 19 years old, for their successful completion of the 100 mile 2012 Tevis!
Dr. David Shefrin and family have adopted the third mile east of Watson's Monument through the Western States Trail Endowment Fund in commemoration of Dr. David Shefrin's successful finish of the 2012 Tevis. The mile will honor his horse and be called the "Sabku Mile".
DWA Sabku has completed eleven 100 mile endurance rides and has been honored at the Gold Level of the
AERC's 100 Mile Equine Recognition Program.
Drinkers of the Wind Arabians owner, Robert Bouttier, was honored to have Ted Jeary (Hyannis Cattle Company, HCC) and his wife, Shelia, visit the DWA ranch. Ted bred a number of outstanding Arabian endurance horses such as Witezarif, ridden by Donna Fitzgerald, who won the Tevis six times and finished 2nd by one minute (Witezarif was AERC's first equine Hall of Fame honoree in 1975), and El Karbaj, ridden by Hal Hal, who won the Tevis twice and the Haggin Cup (Tevis Best Condition) twice. Even though it was a cold and rainy day on June 5, 2012, they had a great time discussing Arabian horses and bloodlines!
